Featured Performance: NUNNABOVE

NUNNABOVE is Cadence on bass and lead vocals, Mattie on keys and vocals, Bennett on guitar and vocals, and Wisdom on drums and vocals. This 4 sibling band from Minneapolis known for their tight pocket and beautiful 4 part harmonies. That is how they landed a feature on Season 13 of America's Got Talent.

 

They're called "the next generation of the Minneapolis sound" because they weave pop, rock, R&B, jazz, and Neo-Soul styles seamlessly with a fresh, youthful vibe. The Current calls them "Minneapolis's latest and
greatest." Terry Lewis says "They have many years of music ahead of them," and national music critic Jon Bream calls them the "ambitious family pop-soul quartet".

 

The band has shared the stage with 3-time Grammy Award-winning Sounds of Blackness, PJ Morton of Maroon 5, Stokely, and many others. Their music is available on digital platforms everywhere. They released their single "Sedated" this past March and their latest single, "Pocket Lover," is now available!

BANJO

BANJO is a singer/songwriter from Puerto Rico. He sings about happiness, love and believing in yourself. He is currently performing in Minnesota Opera's upcoming rendition of Cruzar la Cara de la Luna.

 

He performs a fusion of alternative rock, Latin and American folk and hip hop with a foundation of Latin and Afro-Caribbean rhythms.

Serene Suns is a dance group based out of Dao Lan Dance Studio located in Saint Paul. There are currently 14 members of this dance group, ages range 12-15 years old. This team is trained in traditional Hmong, Thai and Chinese choreographies.

Titambe Drum and Dance Ensemble

Titambe West African Dance Ensemble's mission is to preserve traditional African drumming and dance heritage as well as promote cultural understanding. This is done by educating audiences of all ages about different African countries through language, music, and movement for a better appreciation of diversity. Through performances and dance lessons in Minnesota, they are able to reach out to the communities.

Titambe Drum and Dance is committed to sharing knowledge, building long lasting relationships with their community and its leaders, and developing professional artists that will produce quality productions. These artists are mainly comprised of Ghanaians, Liberians, Kenyans, Trinidadians as well as American born. Titambe West African Dance Ensemble has a repertoire of over one hundred authentic traditional drumming, dances, music, story telling, dance drama, reggae dancehall, ndombolo, soukous, coupe decale, among others.

Titambe West African Dance Ensemble believes that with traditional dance and drum we can gentle unlock the ancestral vibration that has been covered for centuries, which involves peace, love and unity.

Garba

Garba is a traditional dance performed at festivals and special occasions in the western part of India. It is joyful style of dance based on circular patterns.  Garba performance often includes hand clapping and dancing with sticks.  Enjoy this energy-packed performance!

He has the personality, positive attitude and flexibility to perform at any event. North Star has over 15 years of experience hosting many successful events.

Blazing Sapphire

The Blazing Sapphire Dance Team is from Dao Lan Dance Studio located in St. Paul.  The team consists of 13 dancers, ages 14-16 years. They are trained in different genres of dance which include Hmong, Thai and Chinese.

Rince na Chroi Irish Dancers

Rince na Chroi (pronounced Rink-a na Cree), Gaelic for “dance of the heart”, was founded by Katie Stephens Spangler in February 2003 after 15 years of Irish dancing and teaching experience in Milwaukee, Chicago and St. Paul.

 

Since opening our doors, Rince na Chroi has grown from about 15 dancers to nearly 200. We have performed all over the Twin Cities and the Midwest at events such as the Irish Fair of Minnesota, the Flint Hills International Children’s Festival, Grand Old Day, Milwaukee Irish Fest, and many more.

 

We welcome dancers of all ages and experience providing classes from 3-years-old all the way to adults!
